Privacy Policy
Lightproof runs entirely on your Mac. Your photos and your Google data stay between your Mac and your own accounts. Enlomi operates no servers that receive your photos, your Google Photos content, or your Google credentials. We have no account system and cannot see your library.
1. What Lightproof does
Lightproof imports media from SD cards, cameras, watched folders, and your Apple Photos library; de-duplicates it; keeps a verified local archive on your Mac; and can upload new items to your own Google Photos library for off-site backup. All processing happens locally on your Mac.
2. Information Lightproof handles
a. Your photos and videos (stored locally)
Lightproof reads media from the sources you connect and copies it into a local archive folder on your Mac (by default ~/Pictures/PhotoSync). This content is never sent to Enlomi. It stays on your Mac and on any backup destinations you configure.
b. Google Account data (only if you enable Google Photos)
If you connect Google Photos, you authorize Lightproof using your own Google account. Lightproof requests only these scopes, all limited to content Lightproof itself creates — it does not access your existing library:
photoslibrary.appendonly— to upload new photos and videos to your library.photoslibrary.readonly.appcreateddata— to read back only the items Lightproof uploaded, so it can confirm each upload succeeded.photoslibrary.edit.appcreateddata— to place items Lightproof uploaded into albums you choose.
Lightproof communicates directly between your Mac and Google's APIs. This data is never routed through or stored by Enlomi.
c. Authorization tokens (stored locally)
When you connect Google Photos, Google returns an authorization token that lets Lightproof upload on your behalf. It is stored only on your Mac, in your user folder, with owner-only file permissions. It is never transmitted to Enlomi. Lightproof never sees or stores your Google password.
d. Diagnostic logs (stored locally)
Lightproof keeps a plain-text activity log on your Mac to help you troubleshoot. It is not transmitted anywhere. If you choose to send it to us for support, you control what you share. Lightproof contains no advertising, no analytics SDKs, and no telemetry that transmits your content or usage.
3. How we use Google user data (Limited Use)
Lightproof's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically, Google user data is:
- used only to provide and improve Lightproof's backup and organization features that you asked for;
- never sold or used for advertising;
- never transferred to others, except to your own Google Photos library as you direct, or as required by law;
- never read by any human, except with your explicit consent, for security, or as required by law.
4. Storage and security
Your archive, logs, and Google authorization token live on your Mac, under your control. The token is written with owner-only permissions. Uploads travel over encrypted HTTPS connections directly to Google.
5. Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or share your photos or Google data with any third party. The only destinations your content reaches are the ones you configure: your local archive, any backup drives you add, and your own Google Photos account.
6. Your controls
- Revoke Google access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions; Lightproof immediately loses the ability to reach your library.
- Delete local data by removing the archive folder and Lightproof's support files, or by uninstalling the app.
- Disconnecting Google Photos in the app removes the stored token.
7. Children
Lightproof is a general-purpose tool and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction).
8. Changes to this policy
We will post any changes here and update the effective date above.
